One Book, One City for Kids is an annual reading program that encourages all 5th graders in the city to read and discuss the same book. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among students, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries, and area schools. This year the entire city will be reading The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora by Pablo Cartaya.

How have Arturo's feelings about Carmen changed since he last saw her? Provide evidence from the text.

Arturo's feelings about Carmen have changed since he has last saw her because when he is around Carmen he doesn't know what to say,and he also gets very nervous. But back when they were younger they hadn't had awkward encounters with each other. Evidence from the text that supports my answer are on pg.7 and when Arturo notices that Carmen has changed from a tall super fast lanky cheetah girl to on pg.8 a tall girl with rainbow braces that make her look super mature and she double kisses Arturo and he feels his stomach boiling. This starts to alter some of Arturo's emotions towards Carmen. This means that Arturo has some different emotions for Carmen then he once did years ago.

For example, when he first saw her on the 1st chapter on page 6 on the 6th paragraph Carmen's family came over to La Cocina de La Isla and Carmen looked different like she had looked before when Carmen and Arturo used to hang out together, for example, when Carmen first walked through the door Carmen looked different.

But back when they were younger they hadn't had awkward encounters with each other. Evidence from the text that supports my answer are on pg.7 and when Arturo notices that Carmen has changed from a tall super fast lanky cheetah girl to on pg.8 a tall girl with rainbow braces that make her look super mature and she double kisses Arturo and he feels his stomach boiling. This starts to alter some of Arturo's emotions towards Carmen. This means that Arturo has some different emotions for Carmen then he once did years ago.

Later in the story, (Chapters 5-8) Arturo likes Carmen, he hangs out with her and talks to her more. They do a undercover search of Pipo's Place. I found my answer on pages 8, 31, 61, and 71. ReplyDeleteArturo feeling have changed because last time she saw Carmen he yous to call her mutant fast cheetah girl.Now he think of her has a girlfriend or something and he like her better than when they were kid because on page 8 says i used to play tag with her.Carmen has changed.She was still tall, but those colorful braces made her look mature. Then without a warning she grabbed my shoulder and double kissed me,one on each cheeks.

ReplyDeleteWhat Arturo`s feelings for Carmen is that he has a crush on her because she is funny and cute. Also because she is the one he played tag with several years ago with him and now his feelings changed and now when she is talking to him, or he sees her his stomach starts to bubble like a pot of oil slowly heating up.

She had gotten taller since the last time he seen her, his feelings was not that strange,but now he have a big crush on her. They were so little since they saw each other. They are like cousins, because his mom and Carmen's mom were best friends.
Arturo said 'he felt like a boiling pot of stem when Carmen double kissed him'. If I were Arturo I would act cool, when Carmen left he probably faint. So by what it says in chapter 1 he pretty much loves Carmen. Arturo tries to act cool when Carmen shows up in almost every chapter but I haven't read that many.Lucas@KOS
